Friendly Friday News May 5 – 9 Only 2 ½ weeks left

Biscuit Game – Tuesday, May 6, 2008. We leave at 9 AM and return around 2:30PM

In reading we will continue reading in our groups. Many of the students are doing very well. Congratulations to Austin Alexander, Ross Bettis, Walker Faust, and Camryn Jones for meeting their A/R goal. GREAT JOB !!!!!!!

In math we will continue on with fractions.

In social studies we will work on our posters of the continent we chose to research.

We will be doing a state project next week. The students will choose a state to research and make a PPT.

Students need to know what nationality they are. We will be doing a family tree project too.

In science we will doing some science fun experiments working with COLOR such as moving pictures, mixing colors, separate colors, and color dyes.

If any parents would like to donate supplies for the projects please send the following:

A visit to the Montgomery Zoo for Earth Day.

Grades 2nd - 6th raised money by reading books and earning A/R points for the Read to Feed program.

In Math we will finish up Chapter 11 and have a TEST on Tuesday. We will move onto Chapter 12 Fractions & Decimals.

In English we will practice writing a letter and work on pronouns.

In Social Studies we will talk about continents.

Friendly Friday News April 21 - 25
We will be going to Montgomery Zoo for Earth Day April 22 at 9:00 AM and returning to school around 2:30 PM.

We are still reading in reading groups and working really hard for an ice cream party if we read enough words for the last nine weeks.

We will learn how to write a letter in English this week.

In math we will continue with Chapter 11.

In Social Studies we will finish up our lessons on Korea.

In Science we will be doing a class project on the planets. Each student will research one planet and then make a paper mache planet to hang in the classroom. We will make the planets in class. If you would like to send supplies, the following is needed: balloons, flour, and newpapers.

I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break.
In Reading we will continue to read Flat Stanley and Horrible Harry collections.
In Math we are continuing on with geometry. (Pages 290-301)
In Science we will talk about friction this week. (Pages E22-E29)
In Social Studies we will be learning how to read charts and develop some map skills while talking about Korea.
If someone could bring in the following supplies it would be GREAT!

*Last week in math we work with dividing 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s. The students are doing very well. This week we will move on to 0’s, 1’s, & 5’s
*In Science we will work on Section C68-C73. This section talks about different types of storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, and volcanoes.

Monday (a large round bowl, a large spoon, and one color of food coloring) It does not matter the color. HURRICANES

FRIENDLY FRIDAY NEWS - JANUARY 22 - 24
In Reading we will work on comprehension skills. We will start a new reading program called Read to Feed. I will be sending home a flyer with more information pertaining to this program.
In English we will write a creative paper using our senses and Hershey kisses.
In Math we will continue with multiplication. (4’s, 5’s, 1’s, and 0’s)
In Science we will talk about the Water Cycle.
In Social Studies we start talking about Switzerland for the multicultural week (January 28 – February 1)
This will be the last week of working with Jan Brett stories as long as time permits.
